Homestead Gift idea- Homemade Biscotti!

Blank Biscotti

(a wonderful 'blank canvas' for any additives you want!)

You'll need:

½ c softened butter

3 eggs

1 cup sugar

3c whole wheat or all purpose flour

½ tsp salt

1 Tbsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla

1 c chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts), dried cranberries, apricots, or other chopped fruit

almond bark, or other chocolate for melting and dipping (if desired)

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a cookie sheet. Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk dry ingredients and slowly add to butter mixture. Add nuts, fruit, etc. Turn onto floured surface and divide in half. Shape each half into a long patty about 4” wide and about a foot long. Lay each patty side by side on the cookie sheet, but not touching. Bake for 30 minutes. Immediately make cuts down the length of each patty about 1” apart. Now turn each of those pieces on their sides and return to the oven for about 10-12 minutes. Let cool-they will harden as they cool. If desired, dip all or a portion of the hardened biscotti in melted bark or chocolate and lay on wax paper to cool. Wrap individually to avoid sticking.

Now, bundle them up in cute baggies and pair with coffee, mugs, syrups, coated spoons, etc. for great gifts! Or, just give a bunch of them alone. I would love to receive some :)
